Our Story EST. 1925
Nearly a Century of Craft & Community
Tony’s Famous Barber Shop has been the premier barber shop in Springfield, MA for nearly 100 years. Three owners. The same standard of quality.
How It Started
Founded in 1925 by Tony Gianetti
In 1925, Tony Gianetti opened Tony’s Famous Barber Shop in Springfield, MA. His old-world approach to barbering — precision scissor cuts, hot towel shaves, and personal service — quickly made his shop the city’s premier destination for men’s grooming.
Tony was known throughout Springfield not only for his skill, but for his generosity. He organized the city’s barbers to donate their services to the children and staff at Brightside and Shriner’s Hospital. His original barber tools are preserved today at the Museum of Springfield History.
When Vaudeville performers and stage actors came to Springfield from nearby Stage West, they came to Tony’s for their haircuts, shaves, and shoe shines — making Tony’s the go-to shop for celebrities visiting the city.
